I have no idea what is going on with my body since I got back from the Guads, but I am a protein-craving machine! It’s not at all unusual for me to crave red meat after a long run, and I satisfied that craving as soon as I got back to Austin Sunday night with dinner from Phil’s Icehouse. I always figure it’s my body needing iron or zinc or some such mineral.
But that’s not what I’m talking about here.
This time around, it’s just protein protein protein in various forms … yogurt, nuts, chicken, shrimp, veggie burgers, but especially fish. Specifically tuna and salmon … I just can’t get enough this week! Had my second tuna sandwich of the week for lunch today, and made a special run to Central Market for their salmon burger on Tuesday. Maybe it’s the Omega-3’s … who knows? But right now, my body wants fish fish and more fish.
Weird … but yummy. :-)
Your body is craving protein because of all the muscle tissue that you damaged and are rebuilding after all that climbing in the Guads. Your body uses protein to rebuild muscle.
